Stefanie Vaught (pronouns: she/her) is a licensed professional counselor with extensive experience working with couples, adults, and families. Her areas of clinical interest include communication and conflict resolution, self-esteem, sexual abuse trauma, sexual issues, women’s issues, LGTBQ+ issues, PTSD, schizophrenia, dual diagnoses, clinical assessment, alcohol addiction, personality disorders, burnout, and the use of somatic interventions to support trauma victims and survivors. Stefanie places strong emphasis on creating a safe, welcoming environment and developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with her clients.
Stefanie earned her master’s degree in counseling from Walsh University in Spring 2025. She previously completed her undergraduate degree in history at Kent State University. In addition, she completed over sixty credit hours in Kent State’s intervention specialist master’s program—demonstrating her long-standing commitment to working with young adults and adults with developmental disabilities.
Stefanie currently works in private practice. Prior to becoming a full-time clinician, she served in various roles supporting individuals with disabilities, including as a guardian representative, a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) who authored individualized service and behavior plans, and an Upper Elementary Cultural Studies teacher at Montessori schools.
Stefanie holds the Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional (CSTIP) credential and is actively pursuing additional certifications, including Trauma 1, Mental Health and Nutrition, and EMDR training.
A strong believer in the power of healing through therapy, Stefanie became a therapist after embarking on her own journey of healing from unprocessed trauma and harmful coping patterns. She continues to engage in therapy herself and views life as an ongoing journey of growth, exploration, and self-discovery. Outside of her professional work, Stefanie volunteers with the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine event, which celebrates and supports individuals with developmental disabilities. Stefanie is also a member of The American Counseling Association (ACA) and The International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC).
Stefanie’s counseling approach is person-centered and holistic, emphasizing mind-body-spirit alignment through the use of somatic-based interventions. She embraces an empowerment-focused approach, integrating evidence-based practices within a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic environment. Stefanie is especially passionate about supporting trauma survivors who are working to reclaim their sense of bodily autonomy. She believes in the importance of a collaborative therapeutic relationship between counselor and client.
Her strengths include: empathy, kindness, advocacy, humor, love of learning, research, rapport building skills, and the ability to see both the larger picture and the finer details within the therapeutic process.
