A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.

Dashae Burge (she/her) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with clients, ages 11 years and older. She is especially passionate about supporting people of color and underserved communities—while welcoming individuals from all walks of life. Her specialty interest areas include navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, addiction, relationship challenges, military family life, and the unique stress of having an incarcerated loved one. Her approach is collaborative and down-to-earth: she will walk alongside you with compassion but also challenge you and hold you accountable so you can grow and reach your goals. Dashae believes that counseling is a safe place to laugh, heal, and even cry.

Dashae completed her education at Cleveland State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and at Walden University, where she earned a master’s degree in marriage, couple, and family counseling. During her graduate studies, she completed specialized coursework in trauma-informed care, addictions, and multicultural counseling, with a strong emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and strength-based interventions. She also received training in working with military families and underserved populations, which continues to shape her passion for these areas of clinical work. She values being a lifelong learner and remains committed to ongoing professional growth to best serve her clients.

Dashae began her clinical journey working with children removed from their homes through Children and Family Services, many of whom were on the spectrum or navigating significant behavioral challenges such as autism, conduct disorder, and aggression. She later served as a paraprofessional supporting adults and the elderly. These settings taught her that people need patience, guidance, and genuine care—not punishment.

Since then, she has expanded her work into outpatient, residential, and telehealth settings, supporting clients in recovery from addiction, private practice, and community programs. She currently provides counseling and psychoeducation to students, families, and educators. These experiences have shaped her belief in meeting clients with both compassion and accountability, helping them build the skills and confidence to thrive.

Beyond her clinical work, she is deeply committed to serving her community through volunteer efforts. She has provided psychoeducation to couples, mentored young girls in faith-based settings, and helped build curriculum for the young adult and women’s ministry at The Glory House. She also volunteers at domestic violence shelters and regularly participates in outreach such as passing out food to the homeless during the holidays. These experiences keep her grounded and remind her of the importance of compassion, service, and creating safe spaces for healing inside and outside the therapy room.

Her counseling style is down-to-earth, compassionate, and authentic. She brings warmth and empathy into the room, while also being assertive, hands-on, and willing to challenge clients when it serves their growth. At times she identifies that may be sitting right on the floor with you, because wherever you are, she will meet you. Some days clients may share laughter and lightness, while other days she will be helping you pick your head up and polish your crown. No matter what, Dashae will always keep it real, respect your feelings, and walk alongside you with both honesty and care. She also loves bringing creativity, humor, and practical tools into sessions so that healing does not just feel like talking, but like real growth you can carry into your daily life.

Her strengths include empathy, authenticity, and strong communication, with a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She has a gift for making clients feel safe enough to cry and comfortable enough to laugh, often in the same session.
