A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.
Caroline Erak (pronouns: she/her) is a counselor trainee who works with adults, couples, and families. Her specialty interests include: anxiety, gender issues, girls’ and women’s issues, life transitions, neurodivergence, parenting challenges, relational issues, substance abuse, and trauma. She utilizes evidence-based treatment approaches, uniquely tailored to each client.
Caroline completed her advanced education at Cleveland State University with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies. She also attended Miami University where she took foundational coursework in anthropology, sociology, and women’s studies. She is currently a master’s student at John Carroll University completing a degree in clinical mental health counseling. This unique academic background has helped her to cultivate a holistic approach to counseling that centers around considering all interdependent aspects (physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual) of each individual.
Before joining Wellness Grove, Caroline worked as an environmental consultant and pursued her creative side as a freelance artist and calligrapher. She also spent time caring for children and adolescents with complex special needs – an experience that shaped her empathy, patience, and understanding. The diverse chapters of her life have fueled her passion for connecting with people and supporting them on their journey toward growth and healing.
Caroline’s approach to counseling is client-centered, relational, and emotion-focused, grounded in her belief that personal growth flourishes in the context of safe, authentic, empowering connections. In addition to being a nonjudgmental, compassionate listener, she endeavors to work collaboratively with clients to identify strengths, build resilience, and foster growth and acceptance.
Her strengths include: authenticity, empathy, honesty, and a sincere dedication to understanding each client’s unique perspective.
