
A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
Alexis Mutersbaugh (pronouns: she/her) is a licensed professional counselor who works with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. Her specialty interests include: anxiety, life transitions, mindfulness, depression, building self-esteem and confidence, relationship issues, and career development. Alexis utilizes a treatment approach that is evidenced-based and tailored to individual client needs.
Alexis earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Kent Statue University in August of 2025. She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Kent State University. At Kent State, she has taken specialized courses in child and adolescent studies. Alexis has a very strong love and desire for learning as it relates to academics and from those around her.
Prior to private practice, Alexis worked with a diverse population of individuals in university and residential rehabilitation settings.
She had the opportunity to work alongside individuals in the community and has led several recovery focused groups in her work. Alexis completed her practicum experience at Kent State University and was able to work with issues such as: anxiety, depression, body image issues, self-esteem building, boundary development, academic struggles, and relationship/familial challenges. Through these experiences, Alexis learned the importance of providing each client with a warm and nurturing environment that exhibits unconditional positive regard.
Alexis utilizes a solution-focused approach, meaning she helps her clients explore and emphasize their own strengths where the client and counselor work together, as partners, to set goals and identify strategies for achieving them. Alexis also approaches counseling sessions from a person-centered approach, focusing on deeply understanding the client’s individual experiences and emotions while encouraging self-exploration and self-awareness.
Her strengths include: empathy, social intelligence, kindness, open-mindedness, collaboration, a commitment to learning and humor.
